EU Pact on Migration and Asylum (2024)

Short description
The EU Pact on Migration and Asylum, adopted in 2024, establishes a comprehensive legal and policy framework to manage migration, asylum, and integration processes across European Union Member States. The Pact introduces mechanisms for more effective solidarity among Member States, a balanced approach between responsibility and burden-sharing, and faster asylum procedures. It also emphasises the importance of integration pathways for refugees, including access to education, vocational training, and employment. This policy paper serves as a key reference for organisations developing mentoring and educational support programmes for refugees, providing the legal context that frames national policies and local interventions within the EU. Its implementation guides the design of inclusion initiatives such as EDUMENTORS4U, particularly regarding the educational integration of displaced populations like Ukrainian refugees.
